A BP-51 suspension upgrade is available to suit your vehicle. Designed, developed and tested entirely in-house by ARB’s team of Old Man Emu ride engineers, BP-51 shock absorbers are engineered for each vehicle and utilise existing suspension mounting locations.
Providing unrivalled comfort and control over all surfaces, the revolutionary internal bypass design ensures there are no exposed fluid transfer channels on the exterior of the shock. This results in a design that suits existing suspension setups and offers greater longevity.

Suspension systems, especially when referring to 4WDs, are extremely complex. Determining the right solution for each 4WD requires special attention to many factors, with weight being the most critical. Old Man Emu 4×4 suspension by ARB approaches this in a unique way.
Instead of offering a compilation of parts that have been chosen primarily to increase the vehicle’s ride height, OME 4×4 suspension provides a range of tuned, matched and integrated systems, each offering optimum levels of comfort, load carrying capability and control characteristics.
The complete Old Man Emu suspension range incorporates more than just 4×4 shock absorbers and springs. At ARB, we take integration to the highest level with our own selection of bushes, U bolts, centre bolts, spring liners, trim packers and suspension fitting kits.
The Toyota HiLux is a medium sized utility vehicle suited to both commercial and recreational uses. During development, OME engineers focussed on increasing ride height, within the limitations of some factory components, and load carrying capability whilst improving comfort, control and ride quality on all surfaces.
A range of front springs, with matching shocks, were developed to cater for differing vehicle setups and front ride height increases of approximately 30mm were achieved, keeping within safe operating angles for the CV joints.
Rear ride height increases of approximately 45mm slightly increase the factory vehicle rake and a large range of rear springs, with matching shocks and greasable shackles, provide multiple options depending on the intended loads to be carried. An XL leaf has also been developed to assist with fine tuning the weight carrying capacity and matching spring bush kits ensure ease of service and increased bush life.
